Geneseo, New York Area Parks

  • Highland Park.  "Highland Park is located on Highland Road at the intersection with Oak Street. Facilities include: basketball court, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, playground, pavilion, rest rooms. Summer recreation program for children. Ice skating in winter. The Depot located in Highland Park is the former Geneseo Railway Station, that was originally built in 1875 at the foot of Court Street; it was moved to the Park in 1976."
 
  • Letchworth State Park.  From InfoRochester.com.  Letchworth State Park is considered the Grand Canyon of the East. 
  • Mount Morris Dam and Recreational Area.  " The Mount Morris Dam and Recreation Area is a major flood control project and public park located on the Genesee River near the Village of Mount Morris in Livingston County, New York. The Dam is situated deep in the Genesee River gorge at the northern end of Letchworth State Park and provides flood protection to downstream areas including Rochester. A 384 acre recreation area is associated with the Dam and offers a variety of recreation opportunity to the visiting public."

  • Spencer J. Roemer Arboretum of SUNY Geneseo.  "The Spencer J. Roemer Arboretum’s mission is to encourage both the students of SUNY Geneseo and the Geneseo community to understand, enjoy, and preserve the natural world. This mission is accomplished through a blending of educational programs and student-oriented research, and through exemplary, ecologically-based management and conservation. The Arboretum provides opportunities to bring together members of both the SUNY Geneseo and Village of Geneseo communities to interactively experience the benefits provided by this centrally-located, natural heritage."

  • Stony Brook State Park.  " Stony Brook State Park's terrain comprises hilly woodlands, a deep gorge with rugged cliffs overlooking three waterfalls and fascinating rock formations. 125 tent and trailer campsites are scattered in the woodlands above the gorge in the upper or south end of the park. Visitors can hike rim, gorge or nature trails, play tennis on park courts, picnic or swim in the park's stream-fed pool. In winter, three miles of cross-country trails are available for skiers. Some winter hiking is allowed, but not on the gorge trails.There is only one dumping station available at Stony Brook State Park."
